Birthdays....January Challenge!

Hey! Welcome to the birth of a new year...2015 to be precise! In honor of that, we've decided that our monthly challenge for January will be Birthday Wishes. We'd love for you to play along with us, and link your creations to the Inlinkz tool at the bottom of this post, or on the Dream It Up! blog, for a chance to win the stencil of your choice...and remember, using Dreamweaver products gets you bonus points towards an extra stencil!

Today's creation comes from the studio of my friend Marj Marion in the Olympia, WA area. How fortunate to have such a talented friend send me cards and instructions over the years. The card today is a birthday card that she sent me and here is how she created this beauty! Wish you could see it in person because the white speckles in the tree are dimensional and very cool to touch. Thanks Marj!

Marj Marion die cut the DW Tree Line Die DG 745 using the smooth side of #140 water color paper. Next, she tapped Distress inks on a craft sheet, using Seedless Preserves, Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers. Spray the ink blotches with water mixed with a little Perfect Pearl mica powder (Perfect Pearl color).
Dip and swirl the leafy part of the die cut into the purple diluted ink, and the tree trunks into the mixed blue diluted ink water.  Rotate the die cut  around a bit on the inky craft sheet to get a mix of blue and purple colors on the die.  You can dry the die with a heat tool in between the steps, and most any combination of colors will be beautiful! You can blot off any excess colored ink water with a paper towel.

When the die cut is dry, sprinkle on some Stampendous Chunky White Embossing Enamel (FREG021) and heat from the bottom with a heat tool until it melts. Attach some foam tape in small bits under the Tree Line die cut, and adhere to decorative scrapbook paper of your choice.  Stamp Impression Obsession (It's Your Day) with Distress Seedless Preserves in the background area.  Add a ribbon bow at the top, attached with a White Decorative Pin (DW TIPW) as a card embellishment. This wonderful tree line die can be used in many different color for the various seasons of the year.

So take some time to see what the rest of the team is doing this week to inspire us during the birthday month of this new year! Please leave them some encouraging comments as you go....thanks everyone...and don't forget to link in your creation below.
